Former NBA journeyman Delonte West was arrested in Boynton Beach, Florida on Tuesday night after a rather odd encounter with the police. According to the report, West was banging on the doors of the police station while yelling profanity with an open can of beer and a bottle of vodka. West continued on as he walked away and was told to stop, but refused to listen to the cops. They ultimately arrested him and made West put down the booze.

Here is more clarity on the Delonte West situation, via WPTV:

The report said West complied with those demands, however, when he stood back up, he began to place his hands inside the waistband of his pants.

Police said one officer unholstered and initialized a Taser and continued to give verbal commands. Officers said Delonte West complied, dropped to his knees with his hands in the air and was handcuffed.

When they tried to secure him in the back of a patrol vehicle, they said the former NBA player “continued to be belligerent and screaming profanities and obscure rants.”

Clearly, Delonte West is having some serious problems. He is facing charges of resisting an officer without violence, disorderly intoxication, and having an open bottle of alcohol. He was reportedly released from jail at 5:46 a.m.

West played for several teams in his NBA career, including the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. He's previously had problems with substance abuse and was even seen working at a rehabilitation center in January that he once attended.

Let's hope he can get back on his feet again.
