It was recently reported that DeMar DeRozan was unhappy with his current status with the San Antonio Spurs and that he wanted out. The 31-year-old caught wind of the rumor, and was quick to fire back at the anonymous source.

DeRozan took to Instagram to deny what turns out to be an unsubstantiated rumor:

DeRozan arrived in San Antonio in the summer of the 2018 following a rather emotional parting of ways with his former team, the Toronto Raptors. In spite of the drama, the 6-foot-6 swingman settled in well with the Spurs, and he had just completed another productive campaign with the team last term.

In 68 games played, DeRozan put up averages of 22.1 points (on 53.1 percent shooting), 5.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.0 steals. He was one of the few bright spots in San Antonio's miserable season, but wasn't enough to extend their amazing franchise playoff streak.

Interestingly, DeRozan has a player option in his current contract for the upcoming season. This means that he could walk away from the Spurs if he so chooses. This is the primary reason why he's been linked with a move away from San Antonio. While he did not completely deny the possibility of switching sides in the offseason, he made it abundantly clear that the rumors pertaining to his incessant desire to leave his current team are simply untrue.

Nonetheless, this does not automatically mean that DeRozan will remain to be a Spur for next season. He could still opt to jump ship, with more than a few teams out there willing to take on a four-time All-Star.
