A long list of professional athletes have cited yoga as a way to improve their conditioning and flexibility; Sacramento Kings’ dominant center, DeMarcus Cousins had added himself to that list.

Cousins recently announced that he has lost around twenty pounds since end of the 2015-2016 regular season. He has continued to follow the same routine since then and it does not involve hours on the treadmill.

The former Kentucky big man champions hot yoga, an exercise in which you pose in compromising positions in an oppressively hot environment, 105 degrees and 40 percent humidity to be exact.

When speaking to The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Jones in Las Vegas, Boogie couldn’t be happier with the results of his sessions.

“I feel great, I feel a lot lighter on my feet. Of course I've slimmed down. I'm a lot more flexible, a lot more mobile, so it's all coming together for me. I really became consistent this offseason,” he said. “Rajon Rondo is a big fan of yoga and he would push it to me, push it to me always.”

The improved conditioning and ways in which Cousins is working to ensure he’s in peak physical condition is not only great for the Sacramento Kings, but also for Team USA, who will head to the Rio Olympic Games with a determined, more athletic Cousins at the center position.
