Despite the multiple lawsuits facing Activision Blizzard due to sexual harassment workplace discrimination, and the subsequent fallout from these, Diablo II Resurrected, the remastered version of the 2000 classic, is still set to hit its release date this week.

Diablo II Resurrected Remaster Release Date: September 23, 2021

Diablo II Resurrected is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The remaster is working with the game's original source code and gameplay, and while it isn't directly being handled by Activision-Blizzard, the team at Vicarious Visions have still been affected. In a report, design director Rob Gallerani explained that they did a full scrub of the game to see if any references, names, or quests needed to be removed or changed. Apparently, none were found. He also said players should “do what they feel is right” when considering the purchase of the game.

The game also has the following features, as detailed on its official website:

Since the lawsuit, Activision Blizzard has been renaming various NPCs in their various different games, like McCree from Overwatch, to remove references to people implicated in the lawsuit. The latest World of Warcraft patch, 9.1.5 also updates several in-game paintings of women to be less revealing. Additionally, Activision has purposefully removed its logo and branding in the debut trailer for the new Call of Duty. So far, there have been no concrete actions or detailed plans announced to respond to the sexual harassment, retaliation, pay disparity, and racial discrimination issues detailed in the initial lawsuit.

But yeah, as a reminder, the Diablo II Resurrected remaster release date is on September 23, 2021.
