The Basketball Without Borders Africa training camp has been an annual event that invites the top 80 boys and girls aged 17 and below to learn from the best international players of today.

This year, Dirk Nowitzki, Joel Embiid, and Kristaps Porzingis will headline the list of participants from the NBA, as they will definitely add a lot of star power to the affair.

More than 40 league players and coaches will also join and offer their skills to the lucky campers who have already been selected, according to the official release on NBA.com.

The report also states how much the program reached and how many NBA players it has produced.

“Players and coaches will lead the campers through a variety of activities on and off the court, including movement efficiency, positional skill development, shooting and skills competitions, 5-on-5 games, and daily life skills seminars focusing on health, leadership and communication.  One boy and one girl will be named BWB Africa Camp MVPs at the conclusion of the camp.”

“BWB has reached more than 2,780 participants from 134 countries and territories since 2001, with 46 campers, including nine BWB Africa campers, drafted into the NBA”

Also expected to join the festivities will be NBA Global Ambassador Dikembe Mutombo, new Phoenix Suns Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones and a number of former league players who have had successful careers as professionals.

The training camp will be held at the American International School of Johannesburg from August 2-5, followed by the NBA Africa Game 2017 at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, also on the fifth.
