The Los Angeles Dodgers are still without their best player, as Mookie Betts remains on the 10-day injured list after being diagnosed with a cracked rib nearly two weeks ago. It also doesn't seem that he is close to returning to action, with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts saying that the needle hasn't moved yet in terms of the star outfielder's status.
Via Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register:
Mookie Betts was given permission to leave the team this weekend to attend a wedding. Will go back to LA and not travel to Colorado for #Dodgers series there. Injured rib is “the same” per Dave Roberts. Not cleared to start baseball activities any time soon.
With Betts temporarily out, the Dodgers have reconfigured their batting order with Trea Turner taking over the leadoff spot for now. Turner hasn't been too shabby as Betts' place order atop the order. Over the last nine games, Turner has recorded a triple-slash line of .429/.444/.643 with a couple of homers and six RBIs. The Dodgers have also gone 6-3 over that stretch, though, that doesn't mean they are not missing the bat of Betts.
Before landing on the 10-day IL, Betts was slashing 273/.349/.535 to go with 17 home runs and six stolen bases for the Dodgers, who are in a neck-and-neck race to the top of the National League West division with the San Diego Padres.
