There's no denying that Magic Johnson is a Los Angeles lifer, unabashedly rooting for all the sports teams from Tinsletown. So his happiness level must be off the charts now with both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers each having won a title.
In fact, the outspoken NBA legend is filled with joy and excitement, he couldn't help himself but make a bold pronouncement. On Twitter, Magic said LeBron James and Mookie Betts are the best basketball and baseball player in the world, respectively.
For those living under a rock, LeBron won his fourth NBA title with the Lakers a few weeks back. He also claimed his fourth Finals MVP plum in the process. Betts, meanwhile, led the Dodgers in their Game 6 triumph against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night, scoring the go-ahead run in the sixth inning then hammering the nail in the coffin with a huge home run in the eighth inning.
Magic Johnson, who became co-owner of the Dodgers in 2012, also unloaded a barrage of tweets following the team's World Series victory, ending a long 32-year dry spell. He lauded star shortstop Corey Seager for being named World Series MVP and manager Dave Roberts for a fantastic job all season.
The 61-year-old Los Angeles icon also gave a nod to pitchers Clayton Kershaw for silencing his critics and Julio Urias for dominating Game 6.
Johnson also flexed his impressive championship resume which includes a World Series ring, 10 NBA titles as a player and as an executive, and a WNBA championship as the owner of the Los Angeles Sparks.
Indeed, Magic is in the air.
