Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts garnered plenty of attention a few days ago when he made a prediction that his team “will win” the 2022 World Series if his starting rotation can stay healthy this season. Within the team, there is a slightly different tone being conveyed.

After the Dodgers signed longtime Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman to a multiyear deal, starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw noted that even as the team boasts a lineup full of All-Stars, “that doesn’t mean we’re going to win.”

For Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, he is not guaranteeing anything either but rather recognizes that the lineup will have to prove its worth on the field.

“A lot of people can be good on paper, we gotta go and show it on the field,” Betts said on Friday.

On paper, the Dodgers do boast one of the more dynamic lineups in recent baseball history. From the power of Freeman at the plate to Betts’ ability to hit to all sides of the field, the Dodgers are projected to once again lead a multitude of hitting stats in the National League this upcoming season.

It is expected to be a must-watch NL West title race this season, with the Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres all slated to battle it out in the division.
