Trevor Bauer has been one of the most talked about MLB players this season despite not throwing a single big league pitch since June 2021. The 2020 NL Cy Young winner was suspended by MLB for two years for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy.

However, Bauer denied the accusations and filed an appeal:

The timetable for the result of the appeal is unclear. But there is a possibility that Trevor Bauer wins the appeal. That result would place the Dodgers in an awkward position.

On one hand, they would be able to add a former Cy Young winner to the roster. Clayton Kershaw recently went on the IL and adding a star pitcher would obviously benefit the team.

On the other hand, the bridge may have already been burned with Bauer at this point. There were reports that players in the Dodgers clubhouse were not fond of him returning to the team if he ended up not getting suspended last season.

The Dodgers' potential looming decision became a bit more clear based on a recent article from the New York Post. The article reports that the Dodgers will likely “cut embattled pitcher Trevor Bauer and take the financial hit” should he win the appeal.

Bauer's current suspension leaves him without pay. But he would be owed a significant amount of money if the appeal ends up going in his favor.

Regardless of what happens, it seems likely that Trevor Bauer will never pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers again.
