Long-time Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and while he would like to be back in South Beach, he doesn't know what the future holds, according to Omar Kelly of The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

“I think that I’m good to go next year….I’d like to be here. But it’s probably out of my hands,” said Wake.

While he is not the disruptive force he once was, Wake has been productive in 13 games this season, totaling 32 tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble.

The 36-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Penn State University, went undrafted and ended up playing in the Canadian Football League for a couple of years before signing with the Dolphins in January 2009.

So would begin the career of one of the most successful undrafted players in NFL history.

Wake played in 14 games during his first season, finishing with a modest 23 tackles and 5.5 sacks. However, the following year, Wake broke out, racking up 57 tackles, 14 sacks and three forced fumbles en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Two years later, Wake made another trip to Honolulu and earned First-Team All-Pro honors after tallying 53 stops, 15 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Overall, the Beltsville, Md. native has made five Pro Bowls during his time with Miami, most recently making an appearance in 2016 when he registered 29 tackles, 11.5 sacks, an interception, and five forced fumbles.

Wake is still a solid pass rusher, so if the Dolphins don't opt to bring him back for 2019, some other team will be adding a very nice player to its defensive front.
