The Miami Dolphins are in a bit of a precarious situation. With the AFC East title hanging in the balance, Miami is entering their Week 18 game against the Buffalo Bills wounded. Their Week 17 tilt against was a brutal loss to the Baltimore Ravens in more ways than one. Many key starters got injured during that game.

Ahead of the crucial Week 18 Bills game, the Dolphins got some important injury updates about star WR Jaylen Waddle and All-Pro RB Raheem Mostert from Tom Pelissero. Both Waddle and Mostert will be unavailable for the clash against Buffalo. Thankfully, they should be a go for the postseason.

“#Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) and WR Jaylen Waddle (ankle) — both listed as questionable — are not expected to play Sunday night vs. the #Bills, per me and @RapSheet. Both should be ready for the playoffs. But Miami will try to win the AFC East without them.”

The Dolphins have already clinched a playoff spot this season, but their game against the Bills is for all of the AFC East marbles. The winner of this game clinches the division, and earns at least one home playoff game this season. While a playoff game at home with fans sounds nice, ultimately, the Dolphins are likely valuing the deep playoff run. Risking an injury to get a home playoff game is just not good.

Miami has high aspirations for this season. After multiple injuries to Tua Tagovailoa last season, the team is finally playing up to their potential. There are some red flags: Their seeming inability to defeat “good teams” is definitely concerning. However, they are looking to avoid being upset by keeping their stars fresh for the actual games.
