The Miami Dolphins proved last season that they can make it to the postseason. After making a splash for Jalen Ramsey this offseason to bolster the defense, they are hopeful that they can stay healthy enough to return to the postseason. Unfortunately, they will begin the season with a few key injuries.

The Dolphins made a few roster moves ahead of the season. The biggest one, which was to be expected, was Ramsey being placed on the injured reserve after being ruled out for the first few months of the season. Offensive lineman Robert Jones was placed on IR, too. But in a surprising move, so was running back Jeff Wilson Jr.

Wilson, who is dealing with an undisclosed injury, was traded to the Dolphins last season and tallied 486 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns in his eight games with Miami. They looked to fortify their group of running backs with a trade for Jonathan Taylor but the Indianapolis Colts' asking price was absurdly high.

Wilson being placed on the IR means — as it does for all players — that he will miss the first four games of the season. The Dolphins will likely lean on Raheem Mostert and Chris Brooks in the running game to complement the passing attack with Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Rookie De'Von Achane may also miss Week 1 due to a shoulder issue, putting the Miami offense in a stressful situation ahead of a huge matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition to putting some key players on the IR, the Dolphins signed cornerbacks Justin Bethel and Parry Nickerson and tight end Tyler Kroft.
