Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has had a phenomenal start to his NFL career. He made sure no one would forget his incredible season on Sunday when he etched his name in NFL history. Waddle caught four passes in the first quarter in Week 18 against the New England Patriots. In doing so, Waddle not only tied but surpassed Anquan Boldin's longstanding record for most receptions by an NFL rookie in league history.

Waddle's productive opening drive saw him bring his season tally to 103 receptions, enabling him to surpass Boldin's record of 101 receptions from his rookie season. Boldin's record has stood since 2003 when he racked up 101 catches for 1,377 yards during his rookie year with the Cardinals.

Anyone doubting Waddle's claim to the record should know that the elongated NFL season didn't play much of a role in the Dolphins' star's record-breaking season. Waddle only played in 16 games this season, having missed the Dolphins' game in Week 15 with an injury.

On the year, Waddle is now up to 103 receptions and has surpassed the 1,000 receiving yard mark, having had recorded 988 yards entering play on Sunday. He stands alone in NFL history after his productive first quarter saw him overtake Boldin's mark, which stood for nearly two decades and has been approached by some big-name wideouts in recent years.

After Waddle and Boldin, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas ranks third in NFL history with 92 catches as a rookie. He's followed closely by Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr., both of whom caught 91 passes as rookies with the New York Giants.
