Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is 36 years old but still has a job in the NFL and a big reason why is because he of his “perfectionist” style. It doesn't matter if it's a training by himself, a practice with teammates, or if it's during a game, he wants everything to be perfect.

“I'm a perfectionist. There's already some stuff on my mind that I have to go talk to some players about, some coaches about and have to work on myself,” said Fitzpatrick, before a wry smile appeared between his beard via ESPN. “But yeah, there's always a couple throws a day that get me fired up a little bit.”

During times of his career interceptions have been a big issue, but being a perfectionist that is something he is really trying to work on. Fitzpatrick is in a battle with Josh Rosen for the Dolphins starting quarterback job, and it could come down to turnovers.

Last season, in eight games with the Buccaneers, Fitzpatrick threw 12 interceptions, while Rosen threw 14 interceptions in his time with the Arizona Cardinals.

It's only June, and it's still a wide-open competition, but right now it seems that Fitzpatrick might have a slight advantage. The one thing coach Brian Flores has noticed is just how well he has taken command of the team.

“The first thing I think of is his command of the huddle,” Flores said. “How he works with players — older players, younger players — and his rapport with defensive guys, offensive guys and guys in the kicking game, I think that shows his leadership in a big way. Whoever he is in there with, he's trying to help and improve and get better. I've been very pleased with him.”

Fitzpatrick expects perfection, and he has shown early on that he will do whatever he needs to make sure that happens for him and the team.
