It has been an eventful offseason for the Miami Dolphins, to say the least. However, perhaps the biggest choice they made was the decision to keep  Ryan Tannehill as the only potential franchise quarterback around.

Needless to say, there is plenty of doubt surrounding Tannehill's status moving forward into the 2018 NFL season given his lack of production in recent years. Fortunately, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Twitter user Ryan Tannehill Facts found that his career has gotten off to a very similar start to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees:

It is easy to see that both player's boast similar numbers to start their respective careers. That said, Miami fans are likely hoping that Tannehill can mirror the same type of success Brees has enjoyed throughout his illustrious career.

Brees established himself as a legitimate starting quarterback during his time with the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury forced him to miss time and the Chargers wound up choosing to replace him with quarterback Phillip Rivers. Needless to say, it ultimately worked out for the best as he is now touted as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history while unequivocally becoming its most accurate passer.

That said, it is safe to take these numbers with a grain of salt. Brees and Tannehill were both in entirely different situations. For starters, Brees numbers were not exactly eye-popping because he had running back LaDainian Tomlinson in the backfield at the time. Obviously, this meant that the Chargers featured a heavy run attack.

Meanwhile, Tannehill has not done much despite the pass-heavy approach of today's NFL. As a result, he still has plenty to prove before any comparison to a player like Brees can ring true.
