Miami Dolphins wide receiver and punt returner Jakeem Grant will miss his team's Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Grant suffered a high-ankle sprain in Miami's last-minute Week 16 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Dolphins will travel to Western New York to face the Bills in a critical matchup for Miami at Bills Stadium on Sunday. As Rapoport notes, Grant could be placed on Injured Reserve.

A placement on IR would force Grant to miss the team's playoff opener, should the Dolphins qualify.

Miami can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Buffalo. A loss by the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, or Cleveland Browns would also send the Dolphins to the AFC Wild Card round.

Grant is one of the Fins' leading receivers this season, accruing 36 catches for 373 yards and a touchdown.

In addition, he's been one of the most effective punt returners in football in 2020. He leads the NFL in yards per punt return (11.4) and total punt return yards (330). He took a punt 88 yards to the house in the Dolphins' Week 8 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Grant missed Miami's Week 15 victory against the New England Patriots after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. He returned on Saturday to help lead the Dolphins to a miraculous, Fitz-Magical win over Vegas.

Grant had five receptions for 43 yards in the 26-25 Dolphins win, and returned one punt for seven yards.

With just under 12 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Grant's right leg bent backward on an awkward hit after nabbing a 5-yard reception from Tua Tagovailoa. His teammates signaled for the medical staff, who helped Grant limp off the field and into a blue medical tent.

WRs DeVante Parker (hamstring) and Preston Williams (ankle – on IR) are still out, too, leaving Miami depleted at wideout for the regular-season finale. Lynn Bowden Jr., Isaiah Ford, Mack Hollins, and Malcolm Perry round out the Fins' wide receiver depth chart.
