The Miami Dolphins scored a 29-21 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, with Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa maintaining his current undefeated record as Miami's starting QB. After the win, the 22-year-old opened up about how life has been in the NFL, and at this point, he seems to have adjusted quite well.
According to Tagovailoa, he's already reached a certain comfort level after piling up a couple of wins:
“I expected it to be a lot harder,” Tagovailoa said, via Mike Florio of NBC Sports “not that it’s not hard.”
Clearly, Tagovailoa is loving life in the pros.
On Sunday, the former Alabama standout had another good showing, completing 15-of-25 passes for a 169-yard gain and two touchdowns. Then again, the Chargers defense was not exactly on point in this one, as they botched a couple of chances to log interceptions against Tagovailoa. The Dolphins QB also failed to surpass the 200-yard mark in passing for the second straight game.
Nevertheless, it's hard to deny that Tagovailoa has been outstanding for the Dolphins since taking over the starting gig from veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Sunday's victory against Los Angeles marks the Dolphins' fifth straight win, as they now improve to 6-3. Prior to Tagovailoa joining the starting lineup, Miami started the season with three defeats in their first four contests. Needless to say, coach Brian Flores' decision to hand over the reigns to the rookie QB has proven to be the right decision thus far.
