Dragon Age fans might not be feeling so good, as Dragon Age 4 seems to be in a very bad state right now.
Fans may not be expecting Dragon Age 4 anytime soon. Neither Bioware nor EA has given as much as a hint on when the game will be released. But even then, we're expecting this release date to be pushed back even further. News about the game's Creative Director Matt Goldman has left the project. His departure was largely unexplained, with Bioware simply announcing that he has left the company and that the project is left “in excellent hands.”
This isn't the first time Dragon Age 4 is losing one of its leaders. Previously, Bioware lost Lead Producer Fernando Melo in 2019. In 2020, Bioware GM Casey Hudson and Executive Producer Mark Darrah left the studio. Many leave Bioware dissatisfied with what the studio has become. Previously lauded for their great works in Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Knights of the Old Republic, Bioware has fallen from grace with its more recent titles Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Rumors have also been swirling that Bioware and EA are at odds on the direction they are taking with Dragon Age 4. EA has allegedly wanted to make Dragon Age 4 a multiplayer game, and now there are rumors that the new Dragon Age will be a live service game. These departures from the original Dragon Age formula could come in conflict with what fans actually expect out of these games. Both fans and developers alike loyal to the old Bioware are starting to lose faith on the once-beloved studio.
