Dante Moore officially committed to the University of Oregon on Friday, according to 247Sports. The Detroit King quarterback is one of the top prospects in his class and received numerous offers from big-name schools like Texas A&M, Michigan, Notre Dame, and LSU.

With so many appreciable options, why did Dante Moore decide to choose Oregon?

According to 247Sports, Ducks head coach Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Ken Dillingham helped seal the deal.

“Them being a young coaching staff, Coach Lanning coming from a national championship at Georgia, so he knows what it takes to get to a championship level,” Moore said (per 247Sports). “Coach Dillingham is a great offensive coordinator, our bond is real crazy. Getting to meet each other, we just talked about football, talked about life, and talked about the playmakers — you can see the receivers in this class that they are recruiting and the offensive linemen that once they start picking up, Oregon is going to be a big shock to the world.”

Dante Moore also explained how he became more comfortable going to school so far from home.

“At first, when I was at home, I looked up on my maps and it was a 35-hour drive and I was like ‘holy moly,'” Moore said. He then explained that his first official visit was a three-way flight from Detroit to Salt Lake to Eugene. Since then, Moore explained, “now they found a way for you to go from Detroit to Portland…and it's only an hour and a half away from campus, so that's not really a big problem.

The Ducks can thank NIL, which plays a large part in Dante Moore's move halfway across the country. He explained that NIL is covering a large part of the travel costs for him and his family.
