There has been an intense media interest in Miami Heat president Pat Riley's reaction to Dwyane Wade’s departure from the team that drafted him back in 2003.

After two years of contract discussions, Wade left for his hometown to join the Chicago Bulls in free agency this summer, after negotiations with the franchise broke down.

When questioned, Riley told the media that he would send an email to the Heat legend, bidding him farewell and thanking him for everything he is for the team, as well as the people of Miami.

Fans were pleased to hear that Riley, who has a reputation as a somewhat ruthless businessman, would be reaching out to Wade but it appears that the email is yet to be sent.

As per The Miami Herald’s Manny Navarro, Wade was asked about whether he has received contact from his former boss at a charity event last week.

Wade handled the questions extremely well, considering the difficult manner in which he left the only NBA organization that he’s ever known.

It seems more than appropriate for Riley to extend his well-wishes to Wade, who gave everything to lead the team to three NBA championships and played 855 games in South Beach.
