It Seems EA Sports College Football won't receive a delay, with a release window set for 2024. Recent Reports suggest that the licensing lawsuits against EA Sports College Football video game have been withdrawn. The lawsuits, filed by The Brandr Group and OneTeam Partners were all directed at reports suggesting EA Sports would pay roughly $500 for each player's name, image, and likeness in the game. However, it seems that some middle ground has finally been found, leaving very little issues now in the way of development.

Licensing Lawsuit Dropped For EA Sports Dropped

The Brandr Group and OneTeam Partners reached a settlement agreement in the lawsuit rergarding EA Sports concerning their upcoming “EA Sports College Football” game, set to release in 2024. Additionally, the Brandr Group agreed to withdraw its litigation.

This all stemmed due financial details of the payout NCAA players received for their name, image, and likeness into the game. EA Sports planned to pay around $5 million to secure real players into their product. However, it only amounted to about $500 per player. It didn't help when other reports released suggesting NFL players receive about $28,000 per in-game appearance (56x times more).

The problems led to some calling for a boycott of the game. Others seemed to care little due to how much College players already receive in NIL deals and scholarships. Nevertheless, the issue remained throughout the course of the year.

The settlement suggests that OneTeam Partners andd TBG plan to collaborate on “future initiatives” that benefit athletes and support them throughout their career.

The good news for this means that EA Sports has less hurdles than before to meet a 2024 Release Window. Originally, College Football was slated for a Summer 2024 release. However, the lawsuit caused issues along the way. Furthermore, some even projected a delay for the release date due to the issue.

However, that does not seem to be the case anymore. Nevertheless, we wonder if this means EA Sports still wants to reach a Summer 2024 release. Or, perhaps they want to consider a slight delay to make up for any possible development hiccups. So, while this technically does not mean every real player will be in the game, it seems like a step in the right direction. Personally, just give me a free copy and you could put me in any sports video game.

EA College Football will be the first NCAA Football game from EA Sports since NCAA 14, released in 2013. Other recent reports suggest the return of Dynasty mode and more. We certainly look forward to playing it. However, we just hope it hasn't played like recent Madden NFL releases.
