The Philadelphia Eagles have a massive season ahead of them after they try to bounce back from a devastating Super Bowl loss. Luckily for the Eagles, they still have an extremely loaded roster and should be ready to make another run at the NFL's biggest stage. Starting on the offensive side of the ball, they inked Jalen Hurts to a huge 5-year contract extension this offseason to make him the face of their franchise. Hurts will be looking to replicate his MVP caliber season from last year, and he will have plenty of weapons to help him out. On the defensive side, the Eagles are just as stacked and only added to an already elite roster this offseason. Overall, the Eagles head into training camp with expectations as high as any across the NFL, and they have two training camp battles in particular that will be thrilling to watch. Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, the Eagles biggest training camp battles to watch will be between D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny, and Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

It is fitting that the Eagles have key training camp battles to watch on both sides of the ball. If the Eagles are anything like they were last year, then they will be feared week in and week out. It is uncertain whether the Eagles were more dominant on offense or defense last year, but they are certainly looking to keep the results the same going into the 2023 NFL season. These two training camp battles will be so thrilling to watch because they include fairly marquee players and all four should be heavily involved in the regular season regardless of how training camp goes. Nevertheless, these four players will be competing for playing time, and all four are going to be doing their best to help the Eagles return to the Super Bowl in 2024. Hence, here is why the battles between Swift and Penny and Carter and Davis will be so fun to watch during Eagles training camp.

D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny

The Philadelphia Eagles brought in both D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny this offseason, the former via trade and the latter via signing. Both running backs are RB1 caliber talents, and both could become bell-cow backs in any given contest this season depending on the game flow. At one point in his career Swift had already been considered one of the more dynamic running backs in football; injuries stalled all momentum he had last year for the Lions and ultimately Detroit decided to move on this offseason. Swift now arrives with one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, and at just 24-years-old, he has an opportunity to reclaim that elite form.

Meanwhile, Rashaad Penny is 27-years-old but has shown flashes of elite running back potential in the past. He had a chance to become the star with the Seattle Seahawks last season, but he was upstaged by Kenneth Walker. He signed with the Eagles during this offseason to become the replacement for Miles Sanders, although this was before Swift signed. Now Penny and Swift will be competing for carries after both were brought in as potential starters. This gives the Eagles a very good problem to have, as there is no doubt there will be very healthy competition between the two, and regardless of who wins the competition, the Eagles will feel strongly about their running back room. Stay tuned into Eagles training camp to find out on one of the more exciting position battles in the NFL.

Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter

This is another extremely exciting position battle to watch because of the talent of these two guys. Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were first-round selections out of the University of Georgia defensive line in back-to-back seasons by the Eagles, and the two will certainly be stoked to go up against each other after being college teammates. Not to mention, both have gamebreaking talent and potential, giving the Eagles another amazing problem to have in terms of a positional battle. Overall, the Eagles probably have the best defensive line in the NFL, and the battle between these two guys will just help two of the younger potential D-line stars in the NFL blossom.

Jordan Davis had an extremely solid rookie season in the NFL, while Jalen Carter will be coming in after a controversial draft process. The Eagles ultimately stopped his slide stemming from a fatal car accident that Carter was involved in Georgia; it is pretty much a certainty that Carter is going to come into training camp hungry to prove he should have been the No. 1 overall pick like he was originally projected to be. Either way, the battle between these two former Bulldogs will be super fun to watch, and Eagles fans will be excited regardless about watching both guys on Sundays this fall.
