AJ Brown has nothing but love and appreciation for his now-former teammate Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, who failed to sign an extension with the Philadelphia Eagles and instead moved to the Detroit Lions.

Gardner-Johnson agreed to a one-year deal worth $8 million with the Lions, putting a shocking end to his brief Eagles tenure despite making it all the way to the Super Bowl. The 25-year-old safety had contract discussions with Philadelphia and received a multi-year offer from the team, but no agreement was made since he wanted more money.

The Eagles opted to move on and instead spent big to retain the services of James Bradberry and Darius Slay.

After learning of Gardner-Johnson's departure and deal with the Lions, Brown took to Twitter to show his support to his former Eagles teammate. He noted that he's in no way upset with his decision since the four-year NFL vet is only doing what's best for him and his family.

Great teammate. Glad he took care of his family most importantly. It's a dangerous game that we play . Can’t be upset w[ith] a man for doing what he feel like is best for him and his family. Detroit got a great one!” Brown said of Gardner-Johnson.

The Eagles will certainly miss Chauncey Gardner-Johnson's production, especially after an incredible year when he had a career-high six interceptions. Gardner-Johnson also recorded eight passes defended and 1.0 sack on top of 67 combined tackles.

Sure enough, the Lions are lucky to have Gardner-Johnson in the fold. Not only do they improved their secondary, but they actually added a player with Super Bowl experience.

While Eagles fans will not be happy that a solid player left them, as AJ Brown said, they cannot really blame him for the choice.
