The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a disappointing 48-7 drumming against the surging New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon that marked their worst performance of the season.

It was a contest that was a one-sided affair that saw Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz struggle tremendously completing 19-of-33 passes for 156 yards and three interceptions. Following the game, Wentz voiced his frustrations with the game that he believes is going to test the will of his team, according to Vaughn Johnson of Philadelphiaeagles.com.

“It was definitely frustrating, but at the end of the day, we’re going to get out of here, we’re going to watch this film, and we’re going to go play a couple of NFC East opponents here and see what we’re made of,” Wentz said.

Philadelphia had no answer for the Saints high-octane offense led by star quarterback Drew Brees adding to his MVP-caliber campaign by completing 22-of-30 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns. This played a huge part in New Orleans tallying up 546 total offensive yards, 28 first downs and converted 4-of-5 trips in the red zone.
This now puts the Eagles in a tough spot where their playoff chances hang in the balance sitting two games behind the Washington Redskins for the top spot in the NFC East. These next few weeks with three straight games against each of the other teams in the division will be key in determining their postseason fate.
