Since suffering a torn ACL and LCL back in mid-December, Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz has continued to make a steady recovery from the injury. Throughout this process, it has led to the notion that he will ready for the season opener for the next campaign in September.

Along those lines, there has been persistent chatter that he remains ahead of schedule in his recovery that created a sense that he will be on the field come Week 1 of the regular season. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Eagles have been quite surprised by the quick rate that Wentz has continued to show in his rehab from the major injuries. He even participated a little bit in 7-on-7 yesterday. He’s doing individual drills. He threw a ball 60 yards last week effortlessly. His legs are fast. He’s stronger. And I think now, inside, you’re starting to hear they’re not going to be surprised if he really is ready for that opener.

But Doug Pederson, everybody else publicly will say ‘We’re not rushing him.’ And there is going to be some caution. They don’t have to [rush him]. Certainly, you have to be prepared for any setback.

But right now, he’s not just ahead of schedule … he is shockingly ahead of schedule.”

The Eagles have remained quite optimistic about the situation, which has been for an obvious reason given how quickly he has recovered from what has often been a career-altering injury. It is one that usually takes nine months to a year to heal fully. However, it appears that Wentz is completely blowing away that time frame with his steady recovery over the last several months.

Philadelphia isn't rushing the Pro Bowler back by any means given that the franchise has a solid backup plan with reigning Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles able to step in to provide some strong play. It is just simply that Wentz has made continual progress that has surprised the team at this point.

With there still being a couple of months until the start of the 2018 regular season, there is still plenty of time for him to prove that he is ready to take the field.
