The Philadelphia Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl last season seemed straight out of a fairytale. After many people counted them out after the season-ending injury to starting quarterback Carson Wentz, backup Nick Foles stepped up to lead the team all the way to their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

It’s not lost on Eagles defensive end Chris Long how special their quarterback situation, to the point where it hardly even seems real.

“It's really a dream, I mean, as far as having two unselfish, capable, explosive-type quarterbacks that can really light up the scoreboard,” Long told Omnisport.

But while the Eagles quarterbacks have hogged the headlines as many QBs do, Long would also like to point out that their success was still very much a team effort.

“When I signed up with the Eagles, [I] and a few of us in free agency saw a roster as good as any roster in the league, depth-wise and talent-wise and that played out accordingly,” Long said. “So as much as it is a quarterback thing, when Carson's out there doing amazing stuff, his team-mates are helping him.”

It’s undeniable how important a quarterback can be on a team. That’s why they get paid the big bucks. Wentz and Foles proved with their great performances last season that they are two of the best at the position in the league. They are the envy of most teams around the league because of that fact.

But while Wentz and Foles rightly deserve all the praise they’ve received, the contributions of their teammates like Long and others on the defense also can’t be discounted. That’s in part why they didn’t miss much of a beat when Wentz went down.

The Eagles will once again be living the dream with Wentz and Foles to call upon this season. But the reality is that with so many others playing their part, they remain a great team in every sense of the word.
