Devonta Smith was just enjoying some courtside seats to the Philadelphia 76ers-Miami Heat Game when he received the news. The Philadelphia Eagles are no longer his employer. Just kidding.
The Sixers’ in-arena staff must have made a massive mix-up because when they flashed DeVonta Smith on the jumbotron because they had him labeled as “Former Philadelphia Eagle.” Smith seemed much too focused on the hotly contested NBA playoff game to notice in the moment:

Apparently, the Eagles wide receiver didn’t get the memo. DeVonta Smith hilariously reacted in jest on Twitter over his unannounced departure for the tea:
“Damn, got fired on my day off 😭,” said Smith while retweeting the gaffe.

It would be a darn shame if DeVonta Smith was unceremoniously removed from the Eagles roster heading into the season given the high hopes they have for the upcoming campaign.
Philadelphia just matched up the swift and shifty Smith with the big and bulky A.J. Brown via trade on NFL Draft Day. The lethal combination in the wideout room gives Jalen Hurts two dynamic weapons with varying skill sets that will undoubtedly cause opposing secondaries fits this season.
Here’s to hoping the Eagles come to their senses and un-fire their sophomore stud before training camp.
