The Philadelphia Eagles are transitioning into a new era with Nick Sirianni as the coach and Jalen Hurts under center. But they still have some old friends along for the ride. Franchise icons Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox will be with the Eagles in 2022.

Cox has made six Pro Bowls in his decade-long career, all of which has been with the Eagles. He was one of their best players, if not their very best, when they won Super Bowl 52.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Cox and the Eagles agreed to a one-year deal with $14 million for the 31-year-old after releasing him.

Zach Ertz, a former Eagles star and contributor on their championship-winning squad, tried to recruit Cox to play with him on the Arizona Cardinals. It was likely a tempting offer, as the Cardinals have a strong roster and a better quarterback, which makes their ceiling higher. Cox decided to stay home and head back to Philly.

Last season, Cox played in 16 games and registered 12 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. Signing him, even though it's just a re-signing, is a massive win for the Eagles. Their defense needs more help and losing Cox, one of their key men in the trenches, would exacerbate those issues. With the addition of linebacker Haason Reddick and several first-round draft picks to make more moves, the defense could be improved.

Philadelphia went 9-8 last season and is looking to capitalize on their new-look squad. Cox, a familiar face, will look to keep the momentum going.
