Although the Philadelphia Eagles may be the top seed in the NFC, there has been little talk about them potentially contending for a Super Bowl. Of course, the main reason being is the lack of faith they will be able to do it without budding star quarterback Carson Wentz.

Needless to say, the Eagles have heard the doubts loud and clear. According to ESPN's Tim McManus, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox feels the team has been disrespected:

“We've been disrespected all year,” he said. “Our record can speak for itself. We're a team that's been disrespected week in and week out, and we just come out and ring the bell every week.”

Cox added that the doubts have only served as extra motivation for Philadelphia.

“It just puts a bigger chip on our shoulder and just adds fuel to the fire, and that's what this team, obviously, has been going off of all year,” Cox said, “people doubting us every week. So we just want to go out and shut those doubters up.”

Despite the loss of Wentz, the Eagles managed to win their next two games before their atrocious 2017 NFL season finale. As a result, the struggles of quarterback Nick Foles have outweighed the prospect of Philadelphia being a serious contender.

The Eagles enter their matchup with the reigning NFC champion Atlanta Falcons as underdogs despite having an extra week to prepare for the playoffs. That said, Philadelphia will need every edge they can get in order to prove the naysayers wrong.
