Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman on Friday morning admitted new wide receiver Jalen Reagor, selected by the NFC East club in the first round with the 21st overall pick, was taken under consideration with the TCU product's fit with franchise quarterback Carson Wentz.

Per Josh Alper in ProFootballTalk:

“You see the vertical separation as an outside receiver, and those things are hard to find … When you look at kind of this draft about guys who can just separate as an outside vertical receiver, there are not a lot of those guys. Those guys are hard to find and they’re hard to find in this league. You see it, that it really fits our quarterback skill set. Our quarterback likes to throw the ball down the field and make vertical throws.”

Reagor, 21, has been lauded for his speed and explosive ability, but the former Horned Frogs wideout was taken while other receivers like LSU's Justin Jefferson and Arizona State's Brandon Aiyuk were still on the board. Roseman's comments about Reagor's fit with Wentz in the pocket might be reassuring to know that the Eagles see their new receiver as compatible with the rising fifth-year gunslinger.

Reagor spent three seasons in the Big 12 at TCU, having a breakout year in his school's 2018 campaign, totaling over 1,000 receiving yards on 72 catches for nine touchdowns. In 2019, Reagor appeared in a dozen games, recording 611 receiving yards on 43 catches for five scores.

In his collegiate career, Reagor averaged 15.2 yards per reception in 39 games, portending to a potential deep threat for Wentz and the Eagles in the near future.
