The Philadelphia Eagles have had much shifting around in their backfield throughout the 2018 campaign that has largely been plagued by the injury bug.

However, the Eagles have received some more stable play over the last few weeks that includes veteran running back Darren Sproles being a significant factor. In light of that, head coach Doug Pederson has voiced that he is hopeful that Sproles will be back next for another season, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“I think Darren Sproles would be a great addition,” Pederson told reporters today. “He’s a great leader. He works hard. He’s a great mentor to a lot of young players. I think anybody wold love to have a Darren Sproles. I mean, I would.”

The 35-year-old will be on the open market next offseason that will all depend on his desire to return for his 15th season. He is currently tied with Frank Gore as the oldest running backs in the league. Gore has already reportedly expressed his desire to play another season after his year was cut short due to a leg injury.

Sproles has been limited this season due to a hamstring injury, but he has been relatively healthy over the last few weeks that have seen him continue to prove to be a valuable dual-threat asset out of the backfield. That includes scoring a touchdown in three out of the last four games played.

In the meantime, the Eagles are heading into the final game of the season with a chance to secure the final wildcard spot if they can get past the Washington Redskins in the season finale while the Minnesota Vikings will need to fall to the Chicago Bears.
