The Philadelphia Eagles are going to the playoffs, thanks to their 24-0 road win on Sunday against the Washington Redskins and a 24-10 home loss by the Minnesota Vikings to the Chicago Bears. However, the defending Super Bowl champions took a hit on the injury front in the Redskins game, as quarterback Nick Foles exited the game and did not return with a reported chest injury.
But before Eagles fans sound the alarm, Adam Schefter of ESPN added to the report that Foles’ injury doesn’t seem to be anything major.
Prior to leaving the Redskins game, Foles managed to put up 221 passing yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions on 28-of-33 completions. He also tied Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers for the most consecutive made passes (25) before making his way out of the game.
Nate Sudfield took over the job under center after Foles left, though, the Eagles opted to run the ball more than let the backup make plays through the air. Sudfield finished with only 22 passing yards with a touchdown on only a single pass attempt. The Eagles also had 129 rushing yards on 34 total carries, with running backs Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams combining for 103 yards on the ground.
Foles’ health is going to be one of the most scrutinized areas of the Eagles’ preparation for the playoffs. Philadelphia will meet the Bears at Soldier Field in the NFC wild card round.
