The Philadelphia Eagles managed to pull out a win versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3. Unfortunately, it came at a steep price with the knee injury to safety Rodney McLeod.

The Eagles have struggled with injuries to start the 2018 NFL season. According to Derrick Gunn of NBC Sports Philadelphia, McLeod can now be added to that list after being declared out for the year:

As I reported Monday a league source confirmed to me a short while ago eagle safety Rodney McLeod had surgery this morning for torn MCL his season is over

Needless to say, the injury deals a striking blow to this defense. McLeod had gotten off to a promising start after registering 10 tackles and four pass deflections through the first three games. He brought some much-needed stability to the Eagles' secondary alongside safety Malcolm Jenkins. They will now have to rely on safety Corey Graham as his replacement. However, Philadelphia may still need to look for a viable replacement considering his lack of experience covering over the top.

Fortunately, there are still a number of quality safeties still available. Players like T.J. Ward, Mike Mitchell, and Tyvon Branch could make for some intriguing options. If the Eagles are serious about fortifying their secondary, they could always look into what it would take to bring Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas over. However, that may seem a bit unlikely considering the steep price it would cost to bring him over. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if they if they ultimately add another player to their roster.
