The 2019-20 campaign was a strange one for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery.

Jeffery, who was the subject of trade rumors early on in 2019, played in just 10 games due to a Lisfranc injury that ended his season. During the time he was on the field, his production was pedestrian, as he logged 43 catches for 490 yards and four touchdowns.

His relationship with the front office also doesn't seem too great at the moment.

However, the Eagles still apparently envision a large role for him next season.

According to Dave Spadaro of the Eagles' team website, Philadelphia is planning on Jeffery being a “major part of the offense” once he recovers from his injury, one that required surgery.

Spadaro notes that Jeffery will have to complete his rehab but that so long as he is healthy, general manager Howie Roseman is counting on him.

Jeffery initially joined Philly back in 2017 and had a solid first season with the club, playing in every game and catching 57 passes for 789 yards and nine scores. Most importantly, he played a pivotal role in the Eagles winning their first-ever Super Bowl championship.

The following year, the 30-year-old was limited to 13 contests due to injuries, snaring 65 balls for 843 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

Jeffery spent the first five seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears, notching back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2013 and 2014 and making his first and only Pro Bowl appearance in the former year.

Philadelphia went 9-7 and captured the NFC East division title this past season but ultimately fell to the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
