Boc the Seamster is one of the most memorable (and useful) characters in Elden Ring. Is there a way for us to keep Boc from dying?
Boc is a demi-human monkey who talks to the player and, after progressing through his side quest, can offer alterations on the player's Elden Bling. While most Tarnished would only know Boc as the Seamster, you could actually still progress his storyline even further. Talking to the seamster will reveal that, in spite of his skills in garment alterations, he actually doesn't feel so confident about himself. He would reveal that he is very insecure about his appearance, even saying: “Am I fit to serve a lord such as you, in all my ugliness? Must I be reborn, no matter what ill fate awaits me?“
For many, it might sting to see our favorite Elden Ring seamster feeling hurt like this, so many Tarnished would like to assist Boc. Some Tarnished would try to alleviate Boc's worries by offering him a Larval Tear, which would allow him to be reborn into a human in Raya Lucaria. However, this makes him lose his ability to speak and make alterations. Visiting Rennala's room in Raya Lucaria will allow us to visit and see Boc. But later on, we'll find him lying face down in the same room, dead.
How to keep Boc the Seamster from Dying?
Thankfully, there's a very simple solution to keep Boc from dying in Elden Ring. You just have to believe in him yourself and reassure him that he's beautiful just the way he is. To do that:
- Found the Prattling Pate “You're Beautiful” Tool. This can be found at Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir on a corpse on the side of a house in the south side of the village.
- At any time after Boc tells you about his desire to be reborn, use the Pratting Pate “You're Beautiful” in front of him.
- This will trigger a dialogue of him thanking the Tarnished for calling him beautiful – who he says sounds just like his beloved mother.
- Tell him that yes, you find him beautiful, despite his looks.
This will make Boc abandon his desire to be reborn. With that, you will no longer be able to give him a Larval Tear. This also means that he'll be kept safe from dying, story-wise.
