Elden Ring is now officially the most highly anticipated upcoming Steam game.

As reported by PC Gamer, steamdb‘s global wishlist ranking now lists Elden Ring as the number one, beating former title-holder Dying Light 2: Stay Human by a large margin. As of press time, FromSoftware's game has 281,183 followers, followed by Dying Light 2, which has 254,347 followers. (As a side note, the game Party Animals, which released in December 2021, has more followers than the two games, having 307,146 followers.)

The two games both sure have high follower counts. They lead the list ahead of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which only has 174,256 followers, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, which has 149,005 followers. To compare, another big release, which is coming out in just a few daysGod of War for PC only has 104,213 followers.

It's important to note that while these numbers show just how many players feel excited hitting the purchase button for a game, it doesn't exactly reflect a game's overall quality, especially for games that are not yet released. Hence, as a consumer, dear reader, kindly take these numbers only as indicators of hype rather than of quality.

In any case, we must admit that we're excited for all of these games coming out, and 2022 is already shaping up to be a great month for gaming, starting out the year with an explosive bang.
