Rapper Eminem requests a protective order against Real Housewives of Potomac stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon. It's over their podcast, Reasonably Shady.

Eminem, who's known as Slim Shady and whose real name is Marshall Mathers, filed the motion on December 15, Page Six reports. He did this so he could avoid appearing in person for a deposition.

Eminem seeks a protective order

The rap star's lawyers have three people available to appear in person. However, they're insistent on having the rapper appear; therefore, this protective order was put in place.

“The main issue now is that Mathers is refusing to be deposed. Mathers is the owner of the marks at issue, and his attorneys are saying he doesn't have information about the marks. We have filed a motion to compel Mathers to be deposed. It seems obvious to us that if you file a lawsuit, you should be made available to be deposed,” Andrea Evans, the attorney for Dixon and Bryant, said.

She added that she would “like to question Mathers at least about this use of the expressions Slim Shady and Shady.”

The attorney said, “It's unclear to us that Mathers can be the owner of the trademarks and file this suit against our clients, but he will not make himself available to be deposed.”

This all stems from the Housewives wanting to trademark the name of their podcast and sell merch. However, Eminem wasn't going for it and filed an opposition to their request, claiming his brand could be damaged.

The popular Real Housewives podcast was launched in 2021.

Whether Eminem can avoid appearing in court remains to be seen. However, it might be in his best interest if he wants to protect his Shady reputation.
