James Gunn has given a disappointing update regarding DC fans' first look at the titular hero's suit in Superman: Legacy.

No first look anytime soon

Superman: Legacy isn't going to be waiting long into the new year to start production.

On Threads, a fan asked Gunn the chance that they could see the Superman: Legacy suit before it starts filming in March.

“Zero-point-zero,” Gunn replied.

So it will be a while before the iconic DC hero's suit is shown off for the first time. Perhaps Gunn and co. want to keep it a surprise. After all, they are kicking off yet another iteration of Superman, and Henry Cavill's DCEU costumes were unique.

The former DCEU, which Zack Snyder kickstarted with Man of Steel in 2013, is over. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was the final release from that regime. Gunn and Peter Safran are now overseeing the creative of the newly-renamed DCU.

Superman: Legacy will be the first film under the new regime in their slate. It will be released on July 11, 2025, giving a long period for fans to wait to catch a glimpse of the new suit.

David Corenswet was cast in the titular role of the DCU film. He is known for his roles in House of Cards and The Politician, two Netflix properties. Corenswet starred in Ti West's Pearl and will star in Twisters next year. Additionally, he is in the upcoming Natalie Portman-led Apple TV+ series, Lady in the Lake.

Rachel Brosnahan will star in Superman: Legacy as Lois Lane.

James Gunn is known for his time in the MCU. He directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy for the franchise. Prior to taking over creative for the DCU, Gunn directed The Suicide Squad and created Peacemaker.
