Eternights - action meets dating sim - announced for an Early 2023 release

Action, hack n’ slash, and dating sim? Eternights by Studio Sai was revealed in the PlayStation State of Play 2022.

“In an apocalyptic world full of monsters, find a warmth you didn’t think possible.”

Eternights will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (Epic Games and Steam) Early 2023.

In a tweet, fkkcloud of Studio Sai summarized how he began developing the game. “I played #Persona5 in 2019 which convinced me to play P4G (Persona 4 Golden) and P3FES (Persona 3 FES) as well. After that, I quit my job and started developing a game inspired by them!”

According to the PlayStation Blog post for Eternights, it’s a “dating-action game where you try to make the most out of life during the apocalypse.” In a Japan where humans have turned into dangerous monsters, you must find the cure and fight for the world you want.

Now for the dating aspects. There are five confidants available for you to spend time with while you’re not diving deep in dungeons. The closer you are with each of them, they will unlock unique skills and spells to use in battle.

Much like the Persona games it was inspired by, a calendar mechanic is present in the game. This forces players to make a decision between growing closer to your companions, challenge the dungeon, train with your friends, and others.

Eternights looks promising, and as a fan of the series that inspired its developer, this is something that I’m personally looking forward to.
