Thor: Love and Thunder has just hit theaters all over the world and it looks to be another winner for Marvel. Even though its runtime is the shortest ever in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's still a fun adventure that promises something exciting for old and new fans alike. And just like any other entry in the franchise, Thor's fourth installment has a couple of bonus scenes appearing at the end. We take a deep dive down below at what happened after the credits and what they mean for Thor.

Thor: Love and Thunder mid-credits scene: Zeus and Hercules

Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Taika Waititi, Tessa Thompson, Thor, Marvel, EntertainmentRight after the mid-credits, viewers got to see Zeus being attended to by his servants after Thor impales him with his own Thunderbolt. While his wound is being nursed, The Greek god is speaking to someone about how they used to be feared and worshipped. These days, gods have become a joke and people would want to see heroes more than them. At this point, Zeus says that Thor must be killed.

“They will fear us again when they see Thor Odinson fall from the sky,” Zeus says bitterly. “Do you understand me Hercules? Do you understand me, my son?”

Viewers then got to see a short glimpse of the demigod rising up in response to his father's challenge. Portrayed by Roy Kent, Hercules is now officially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he's expected to appear again at some point in the future.

What this means for Thor and the MCU

The ending of Love and Thunder has placed Thor in a very interesting place in the Marvel Universe. He's no longer part of the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy. Instead, he's racing across the cosmos with Love by his side. This open-ended conclusion still leaves the door open for Chris Hemsworth to return in the future and still gives his character a satisfying arc that started in the first Thor movie.

In the event Thor is confirmed for a fifth movie, fans can expect Zeus and Hercules to be Thor's primary antagonists. Of course, if the source material in the comics is to be used, the latter is expected to turn on his father and become a hero himself in the MCU. On the other hand, the brains behind Marvel will still utilize this character, even if Hemsworth and Taika Waititi refuse to come back for another film. In any case, this won't be the last we see of Hercules.

Thor: Love and Thunder post-credits scene: Jane Foster enters Valhalla

After the credits to Thor: Love and Thunder has ended, we see Jane Foster again after dying in the realm of Eternity due to her succumbing to cancer. She steps into a portal and fans see her welcomed to a heavenly location by no other than Heimdall. He thanks Jane for saving his son and says she can enter Valhalla after getting a warrior's death in battle.

What this means for Jane's future in the MCU

Jane's arc of getting cancer, becoming the Mighty Thor, dying from her disease, and entering Valhalla is taken straight out of the comics. What's not included, though, is her becoming a Valkyrie herself and coming back to life as a superhero. This, of course, can be adapted by Kevin Feige for the MCU if he finds a fitting story to use it for.

Whether this happens or not, this scene helps keep Natalie Portman's Jane Foster in the Marvel Universe in the event a fifth Thor movie happens. If that won't become a reality, she can still be employed in other future films or projects with the possibility of her becoming a Valkyrie.
