The Atlanta Falcons have released running back Jeremy Langford from their injured reserve, according to NFL Reporter Dov Kleiman.

The Falcons had originally waived him with an injury designation back in May, but he had reverted to the injured reserve when no team claimed him on waivers.

Langford originally was signed to the practice squad of the Falcons and was promoted to the Falcons active roster when they needed running back depth late in the year. Langford did appear in the final game of the season for the Falcons against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rushing for 25 yards on nine carries.

Langford was drafted in the fourth round by the Chicago Bears in 2015 and played in 26 games with the franchise. As a rookie with the Bears, he was strong, rushing 148 times for 537 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 22 passes out of the backfield for 279 yards and a touchdown.

There was hope that he could be a solid back in the league, and in his second year, he was promoted to the starting back for the Bears. He dealt with injuries most of the year and lost the starting job to Jordan Howard and eventually, he lost his job.

He has spent time with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and the Baltimore Ravens, but has only played in that one game since 2016.

It's unclear if there are other teams who are interested in him, but if there is, he is probably going to have to earn his job during training camp.
