The Atlanta Falcons are coming off quite the debacle after letting the Dallas Cowboys escape with a win in Week 2. Unfortunately, it appears they were dealt another blow with wide receiver Julio Jones.

Jones was already dealing with a hamstring issue going into the matchup versus the Cowboys. Head coach Dan Quinn has revealed that h further aggravated the injury, per Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Jones has never been one to sit on the sidelines while dealing with nagging injuries. Regardless, Quinn's update indicates that he may need some time to rest, leaving his status for Week 3 again the Chicago Bears highly doubtful.

While there its no question regarding Jones' status as the No. 1 option for quarterback Matt Ryan, he had been largely utilized as a decoy with a mere two receptions for 24 yards. However, it was his dropped pass from wide receiver Russell Gage during the third quarter that proved to be the most costly. Since it is still early in the 2020 NFL season, the Falcons may look to take a cautious approach by giving him some time to get closer to 100 percent.

Jones' potential absence would leave a notable void in the receiving corps against the Bears in Week 3. The onus will fall on Gage and Calvin Ridley to take on an increased role in the passing game for Ryan.

Fortunately, there is good reason to be optimistic that they can still get the job done after combining for 13 receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys.
