If you're excited about Todd Gurley signing with the Atlanta Falcons, you have Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones partially to thank.

On an episode of Gurley's former teammate Chris Long's Green Light Podcast, the 25-year-old running back explained that soon after he was cut by the Los Angeles Rams on March 19, Jones showed up at his house.

Gurley also mentions that recently traded star receiver DeAndre Hopkins also showed up at his door.

Gurley being cut from the Rams came as a bit of surprise to many as the former top-10 pick has undoubtedly been one of the best running backs in the league since being drafted out of the University of Georgia.

In 2018, Gurley managed to run for 1,251 rushing yards and a league-high 17 rushing touchdowns while adding 580 yards and four more touchdowns as a receiver.

However, an injury to end the 2018 season forced the 6-foot-1, 224-pound back to have a bit of a down year Los Angeles. In 2019, Gurley ran for a career-low 857 yards and 12 touchdowns while also not being as heavily involved in the passing game.

Gurley now lands on a Falcons team that was in desperate need of a difference-maker in the running game after releasing former Pro Bowler Devonta Freeman.

Last season, Atlanta ranked 30th in the NFL in rushing yards per game (85.1) while managing just 10 rushing touchdowns for the entire season.

In Atlanta, Gurley has a chance to add to an offensive that has the potential to be one of the most explosive in the lead with Jones and quarterback Matt Ryan already established stars.
