The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a much-needed bye week after enduring their fair share of injuries to start the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears the extra week off was effective since they were able to welcome two key pieces back to practice.

Head coach Dan Quin says quarterback Matt Ryan and cornerback Desmond Trufant were able to get some limited participation in, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“Matt will get some practice work today,” Quinn said. “(It) will be in a limited fashion today and Trufant as well. It will be great to have both of those guys back in action in some form of participation today. Hopefully, we’ll ramp them up as the week goes. It will be good to have both of them back in action today.”

This is certainly an encouraging update heading into their Week 10 showdown with the New Orleans on the road. Having key players healthy and on track for this difficult matchup is a positive sign for their attempts to snap a six-game losing streak.

Ryan picked up an ankle injury that forced him to miss the 27-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks heading into the bye. It is no secret he has endured a rough 2019 campaign behind the Falcons' lackluster offensive line. Regardless, having him back will give them a much better chance of getting back into the win column.

Meanwhile, Trufant has been sidelined for the last three games while dealing with turf toe. This porous secondary will undoubtedly be happy to potentially have the veteran back in the mix.
