The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly been holding out hope for a first-round pick in a Julio Jones trade, with a second-round pick at the very least. While recent consensus suggested getting a first just wasn't going to happen, ESPN's Diana Russini reports the Falcons have discussed multiple trade offers for Jones, and one of them involves a future first-round pick.

If a team truly is willing to give up a first-round pick for the 32-year-old Jones, one would have to assume they'll make Atlanta pay some of his $15.3 million base salary. Negotiations are ongoing, and Russini says people around the NFL believe a trade could happen as early as next week, which would be after the magic June 1 date.

Russini also notes the Falcons have had discussions with the Tennessee Titans, but it's not looking like that will be his trade destination. Titans players, including Derrick Henry, have been actively recruiting Jones on social media.

The Falcons are looking to trade Jones to alleviate their cap issues, and the star wide receiver himself wants out. The 32-year-old admitted as much during a crazy live appearance on Undisputed earlier in the week. He's looking for a better chance to win.

Jones is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL when he's healthy. He did have problems staying on the field in 2020, missing seven games. But he's not far removed from leading the NFL in receiving yards. Even if he's not that same dominant player, he should be effective in 2021 as long as he stays on the field.
