The Atlanta Falcons have four days to get a Julio Jones trade done, but they still don't have a deal in place. While there is a lot of interest in the veteran receiver, there is one problem that has arisen.
According to Pro Football Talk, other teams in the league believe the Falcons asking price for Jones is “outlandish.” They continue to demand a first-round pick for Julio Jones while also assuming that another club would be willing to take on his $15.3 guaranteed million salary for 2021. The Falcons wideout is also due for $2 million of guaranteed pay in 2022.
There have been numerous players across the league who have tried recruiting Jones on social media, from Jalen Ramsey of the Rams to Titans star AJ Brown.
While there was a growing belief that Julio Jones could be traded this offseason, it all came to fruition earlier this week when he appeared on the Undisputed via a phone call with Shannon Sharpe. The Hall of Famer kind of pulled a fast one on him because he didn't let Jones know that he was live on air when the former Alabama standout said he was done in Atlanta.
Ever since, it's been absolute madness. ESPN's Dianna Russini reported that the Falcons have discussed multiple trade offers for Julio Jones involving a first-round pick, but it remains to be seen if a blockbuster move will get across the line.
Stay tuned, this should get interesting.
