RB Todd Gurley scored a TD for the Atlanta Falcons, and this time he won't draw flak for it.

With the Falcons up by just a deuce, 19-17 in the early goings of the fourth quarter against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night at the Bank of America Stadium, Gurley broke free and squeezed past the wall of defenders to score the touchdown and extend their advantage to eight, 25-17.

This was Gurley's eighth rushing TD of the season, the most by any player in the NFL.

Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo, however, missed the extra point to keep it a one-score margin.

The 26-year-old Gurley is in his first season with the Falcons after signing a one-year deal worth $5.5 million. So far, he's been worth every cent as he has helped energize the team's offense. But he is hoping his fine play could lead to more wins as they are at the bottom pit of the NFC South with a lowly 1-6 win-loss card.

He was surprisingly released by the Los Angeles Rams in the offseason, just two years after signing a much-celebrated $60 million extension.

Gurley, the Falcons' star running back, reportedly had an injury concern early in the tiff against the Panthers. He was seen kicking and stretching on the sidelines during a few drives, with Brian Hill taking over for him. But luckily for the Falcons, he was able to shake off whatever pain he was feeling and carried on.

The 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and three-time Pro Bowler is hoping to make up for his mental error late in their game against the Detroit Lions last Sunday, which cost them the much-needed victory.
