Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Battle Royale Mode will be gone soon

Bethesda will be taking down the Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Battle Royale Mode in September, they revealed. The publisher revealed that the game mode doesn’t get enough players queueing up, making it hard to complete a single lobby.

“When we first introduced Nuclear Winter, we were thrilled to watch so many players from our community, as well as many newcomers, dive head first into our take on the ruthless last-player-standing Battle Royale genre,” reads a Fallout 76 blog post. “Over time, however, we’ve seen the vast majority of players prefer to explore other aspects of the game. It has also become tougher to put full Nuclear Winter lobbies together without also making sacrifices on match wait times. Additionally, we’ve found it challenging to provide meaningful updates for Nuclear Winter, while also developing and supporting exciting new content for Adventure Mode in recent and upcoming updates. With all of this in mind, we are currently planning to sunset Nuclear Winter Mode in an update coming this September.”

This teaches publishers not to simply jump into the latest trends if you’re not going all-in on a concept. So, good job on that, Battlefield 2042.

Fallout 76 will be having a Free Play Week until June 16. If you want to try it out, you can download the PC Launcher here.

Bethesda is probably avoiding a negative reaction like fans had for Total War: Three Kingdoms, which is why they announced this bombshell early.

While we’re sure we’ll be hearing more from Bethesda during E3 2021, they went ahead to announce this early. Bethesda will have news for Fallout 76 during their E3 Presentation, sure. But hopefully, we hear more about their upcoming projects, as well. Please, Bethesda, give us more of Ghostwire: TokyoDeathloopThe Elder Scrolls 5, and Starfield!
