Fantasy football fans could not be more excited to finally have the 2020 NFL season underway. After the Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Houston Texans on opening night by a final score of 34-20, all eyes have shifted to Sunday. A full schedule of games is music to the ears of football fans everywhere, especially after the uncertainty of the offseason fueled by the coronavirus.

Looking specifically at the NFC East division, there are a lot of reasons for excitement. At this point in time, the Dallas Cowboys are favored to win the division, but the Philadelphia Eagles will have something to say about that. Both the Washington Football Team and New York Giants also took steps forward this offseason.

Dallas put together a big offseason, but it did not include an extension for quarterback Dak Prescott. They did hire a new head coach in Mike McCarthy and also brought in potential star wideout CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft. As for the Eagles, they have a potentially dynamic offense and a defense that improved drastically with the addition of star cornerback Darius Slay.

In the bottom half of the division, the Giants and Washington are both expected to take steps forward. Ron Rivera is the new head coach in Washington and he will demand more from a franchise that has been mediocre for years. Daniel Jones and the Giants have a powerful offense and a ton of young talent developing that will take them to the next level.

All of that being said, there are some good matchups to watch this week for these NFC East teams. Let's take a look at how each quarterback will perform in Week 1 of the 2020 season.

Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles

First up, the Eagles have a divisional date with Washington in the first week of the season. Obviously, Philadelphia is heading into this matchup as the overwhelming favorite.

Wentz suffered a disappointing end once again to the 2019 NFL season. He was knocked out of the Eagles' Wild Card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks after taking a big and borderline dirty hit from Jadeveon Clowney. It has become a theme that the Eagles lose Wentz just before the most crucial time for football.

Due to being knocked out of the playoffs and the bad taste left in his mouth from that event, Wentz will come out firing against Washington. Wentz is going to have a big game and it would be reasonable to expect 300 passing yards and three touchdowns. He has a great supporting cast and should have a very successful all-around season.

Dwayne Haskins, Washington Football Team

In the same matchup, Washington is hoping to see their new franchise quarterback take a step forward in his second NFL season. After being drafted with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Haskins ended up playing in nine games as a rookie.

Haskins ended up completing 58.6 percent of his pass attempts last season for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He needs to work on his decision-making to make sure his turnover numbers don't skyrocket. Philadelphia's secondary is no longer a question mark with Slay on the roster.

When everything is said and done this week, Haskins will show big-time potential but will also struggle with growing pains. He will rack up 275 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. It's a decent start, but there is still a lot of work to do, especially if he wants to make noise for fantasy football owners.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

One of the biggest surprises of the offseason was the Cowboys not getting a new deal done with Dak Prescott. Jerry Jones chose to pay Amari Cooper, but he is playing with fire when it comes to Prescott. Some have even gone so far as to predict that the quarterback could end up leaving Dallas at some point in the near future.

Despite all of the contract drama surrounding Prescott, he is going to have a big season in 2020. He has a trio of talented wideouts in Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb. In Week 1, Prescott will get the most out of those weapons.

Prescott should end up being able to tear up the Rams' secondary to the tune of 325 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception. There is no reason why Prescott can't be an MVP candidate this season. Very few quarterbacks have the weapons that he has to work with and no one will argue that Prescott doesn't have a quality arm.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Finally, Jones and the Giants have a “Monday Night Football” matchup on the schedule against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This will be a game of a young quarterback going up against an ageless star returning from a serious elbow injury in Ben Roethlisberger.

New York made waves with their decision to take Jones with the No. 6 overall pick last offseason ahead of Haskins. It didn't take long for Jones to take over the starting quarterback job from Eli Manning. Not only did he take over the starting job, he also proved the Giants right for taking him so high in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jones did have an issue with fumbling as a rookie, but he flashed big potential with 3,027 passing yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Giants are expecting a big jump from Jones in year two. In Week 1 against the Steelers, Jones will end up with 300 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception, which will show the kind of development that the Giants are hoping to see from their young signal-caller.
