Spain just played one of the most memorable games in the FIBA World Cup. And once again, Ricky Rubio finds himself in the middle of it, doing things that made the world fall in love more than a decade ago.

He scored 19 points, dished 12 assists, grabbed 7 boards, and stole the ball from Australia four times. They booked their place in the FIBA World Cup final with the win, and Rubio couldn't be more excited with the prospect of winning.

His 12 assists isn't just a testament to his skills as a player, it also put him in the history books. He officially passed former NBA player Pablo Prigioni as the all-time assist leader after notching a total of 115 dishes against Poland in the quarterfinal.

Now that the team is all the more closer to the championship, Rubio couldn't wait to taste his first senior title. He is eager to add to his already-impressive list of accomplishments.

“I was winning the gold with the U-16 team [in 2006]. Guess I have a shot at the real deal now, don’t I?”, he told the press after the game, via Eurohoops' Dionysis Aravantinos.

Rubio helped the Spanish national team to a spot-less 7-0 record with his averages of 15.9 points, 6.4 assists, and 1.7 steals. He also showed up during the 2014 iteration of the tournament, capturing the crowd with his skills.

The world first met the Phoenix Sun guard as a young player in the 2008 Olympics. Chris Paul remembers a young Rubio showing off in Beijing and impressing everyone on the team.

“He was a great player then,” Paul said, per the Twin Cities Pioneer Press' Marcus R. Fuller. “And he’s a great player now. It’s crazy, but I think he’s getting better.”

Suns fans hope that they get this version of Rubio once the NBA season begins.
